SPINAL ANIMAL

Animal dont la moelle a été placée en fonctionnement autonome, après exclusion des parties sus-jacentes du système nerveux central, afin d’étudier les fonctions médullaires. Chez les vertébrés inférieurs (on utilise surtout la grenouille), la décapitation ou la destruction de l’encéphale réalisent de telles préparations. Chez les mammifères, la section médullaire haute, sous-bulbaire, est pratiquée, mais elle est en réalité peu utilisée car le choc est très marqué, et la survie compromise par la lésion des centres respiratoires.
